Dresden
Ok, it has been a while since I was in Dresden, but some things about that city need to be mentioned. First of all it is a very beautiful city with many highlights to offer. Because the old city center is not very large, all the interesting building are in walking distance. There is for instance the newly rebuilt Frauenkirche.
This church was totally destroyed in WW II and it took a lot of effort and money to build it up again.
Furthermore Dresden lies at the river Elbe. I have to stress on that because many cities that do have a river going through them have a special flair - often restaurants and bars are close to the boulevards that go along the river.
I noticed that the city is very clean and obviously there was a lot of money to rebuild or brush up many old buildings - the reason for that maybe that Dresden is the capitol of a state. It seems to me that these capitols often have a bigger budget than other cities.
Of course every city looks different and has its illumination highlights at night. Dresden is no exception to the rule so if you think you saw it all during the day you have to return at night and see all the buildings that you visited before again.
All in all Dresden is certainly one of the most beautiful cities that Germany has to offer. Here are some other photos of Dresden.
