No world cup soccer for a little while. Ideal for a trip to Potsdam, the neigbouring city just a few minutes away. I was already there a few times before but now the concrete cause is an exhibition about the works of a famous german architect of the 19 th century - Karl Friedrich Schinkel. After the very informative exhibition including a lot of drafts and paintings I do a little walk through the city.
Potsdam is a very beautiful city, a lot of historical sites, parks and big squares. What is noticeable though is, that although this city has about 200.000 inhabitants, a big part of those is obviously hiding or staying at home. Many sights are just deserted and the only place where you actually meet bigger groups is the pedestrian zone with its shops. Nevertheless, I enjoy walking through the Sanssouci park again, I like seeing those dutch style houses in the dutch
quarter and the Nikolai church (being renovated at the moment) is surely one of the most beautiful buildings in Potsdam.
Whoever visits Berlin should make a short trip over to Potsdam, it is certainly worth a visit.
