The sledding pool

Snow finally arrived in Berlin. And I am talking about a mentionable amount and not about the few flakes that melted at the ground before.The effect was that a giant group of families with kids used the opportunity took the sleds or everything that could be used as one out of the basement and went to the Volkspark Friedrichshain. Walking by I noticed a constant yelling and cheering similiar to the noise level that you have at public outdoor pools. It seems that for kids when it snows sledding is the equivalent fun to swimming. And even when it got really really cold in the evening, the sportive event went on at the hill in the park after dark. Probably anyways a good tip if you don’t wanna have it too crowded assuming though, that your eyes work perfectly.

08: Best trance tunes

There were times when I looked back at what was released on the trance sector throughout the year and I came to the conclusion, that for me there weren’t that many “extraordinary” tracks out there to be mentioned in a “Best of” list. So the list contained only 3 or 5 really classy tunes. 08 was certainly different. It started very slowly, I remember long time gaps in which I hardly bought anything, but the 2nd half repaired a lot having some major releases and effecting a Top 10 list of my favorite trance tunes. So, here they are:

Internationale Tramkonferenz

Ich weiß nicht, wie es anderen ÖPNV-Teilnehmern geht, aber neben der S-Bahn ist die Straßenbahn in Berlin immer noch mein Lieblingstransportmittel. Seitdem ich vor Jahren hierher zog, bin ich wohl unzählige Male mit der M1 schon ins Zentrum und zurück gefahren. Ich bin sozusagen zum Tram-Fan geworden. Dass die Tram zusätzlich auch noch ein wirtschaftliches und umweltfreundliches Transportmittel ist, macht sie noch symphatischer.

Leider gibt es Berlin kaum Planungen, dieses Netz noch großartig weiter auszubauen. Darüber hilft auch nicht die kürzliche Neueröffnung des Teilstücks der M2 zum Alex hinweg. Andere Strecken, wie die zum neuen Hauptbahnhof oder eine Tram auf der Leipziger Straße (die Gleise sieht man ja noch) sind in weite Ferne gerückt, wenn sie denn, wie vor allem im letzteren Beispiel, überhaupt jemals gebaut werden.

Dass man in anderen Metropolen fleißig ausbaut, während der Senat hier sein Geld hauptsächlich in den Straßenbau steckt, soll ein von der Bündnisgrünen Verkehrsexpertin Claudia Hämmerling veranstalteter internationaler Tramkongress im Berliner Abgeordnetenhaus verdeutlichen.
