Trance artists worth listening to

Friday, February 10th, 2006

Here are some trance artists who brought out remarkable tracks under their own name or produced good remixes for other artists.

Above & Beyond: Although their last works did not really convince me that much their name stands for the best producers and remixers throughout the last years. Terrific work for Madonna, Fragma and others as well as tracks under their own name or under the project “Oceanlab” proved high quality over and over again. (more…)

short notes

Some short notes on various trance topics:

I dont know if it was a mistake of Beatport to announce that the one millionth downloader will get a very nice prize because the counter at the top - being still far away from that number - moves awfully slow and I wonder if many people just wait with their desired downloads until the number comes closer to 1 million? Maybe at one time it will not move at all anymore? ;)

Speaking of mistakes, B&W’s “mistaken” was already a very nice tune, Peak vs. Jpl’s “mistake” is even nicer - and in opposite to many DJ’s I prefer the original mix and not the verny mix.

Mentioning DJ’s - another brilliant mix last night by Andi C. Together with Menno de Jong’s Intuition Radio Show it is one of the best shows at etn.fm.

Sayla = Menno

Wednesday, October 19th, 2005

Ok, so I just learned that Sayla is an alias for Menno de Jong. Why do I mention that? Because a while ago I bought the fantastic Arizona vs. Passiva remix of Sayla’s “Majestic” . Sometimes it is surprising who is behind which alias, which project is connected to which DJ and so on - very difficult to see through all of this.
Anyways the “Majestic” remix is highly recommendable and includes a fantastic break.

Speaking of breaks, did anybody ever listen to a track with a longer and more spectacular break than Skyform’s “Infinite” (Original mix)? About 2 minutes and 5 seconds of spherical, floating sounds in between - a very good tune.

teardrops

This is probably the record whose release I waited the longest for. Mark Norman’s “teardrops” is finally available in the downloadshop and of course I bought it right away. I can’t even remember when they played it the first time on etn.fm.
So, a big thank you to the dutch guys behind Mark Norman. Seeing that Menno de Jongs “Tundra” comes already from the Netherlands, it seems that that country rules the dance scene at the moment ;)
