Spheric rush

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Certainly one of the outstanding new trance tracks of the recent past has been Redstar’s “Rush”. A melody that everybody can whistle to comes in various good quality remixes and I found it hard to decide, which one to pick. The remix of Karl G is it for me since it builds up very slowly while spheric, almost romantic sounds happening in the back. It all leads to a fantastic break after which the main melody kicks in. I highly recommend this to everybody who is into trance or in particular into uplifting trance.

Oceanlab

I don’t quite understand all that hype about the new Oceanlab single “Sirens of the sea”. Yes, it is quite neat, good singing as always from Justine Suissa, but if you compare it to older Oceanlab tracks like “Clear blue water” or “Sky falls down” it is rather unspectacular and even a little bit boring.

Speaking of vocal trance tracks: A while ago I listened to the recently digitally released who-knows-how-many remixes of Matt Darey’s “eternity” - it seems to me that not a single one of these remixes is without that bothering opera singing. If it was just instrumental it could be quite an interesting track. I am really not a fan of using classical elements in trance.
