For many of us Trance listeners, Chicane used to be the fundamental artist who not only was one of the creators of this style but whose music, especially his first albums still belong to the best ever released in the electronic music genre. Sadly, Chicane changed his style radically, a lot of releases were basically pretty ordinary pop music pieces that fit perfectly as background music in grocery stores. Now, there is hope. A remix of an old Sigur Ros song named “Poppiholla” sounds just fantastic as you can discover when going to Chicane’s home page. The track starts right away.

There seems to be a release festival of Temple One remixes going on at the moment. Not only that “Moonlight madness” by AF Project was released just a short while ago, a remix of “Blue Skies” by Ata is finally out too. This track made it even to the Top 5 sales charts of Audiojelly when it still was a more expensive exclusive release. Which one is better? Don’t know, each has it’s unique style. Here are the excerpts of Joe’s remixes:

Certainly one of the outstanding new trance tracks of the recent past has been Redstar’s “Rush”. A melody that everybody can whistle to comes in various good quality remixes and I found it hard to decide, which one to pick. The remix of Karl G is it for me since it builds up very slowly while spheric, almost romantic sounds happening in the back. It all leads to a fantastic break after which the main melody kicks in. I highly recommend this to everybody who is into trance or in particular into uplifting trance.

I don’t quite understand all that hype about the new Oceanlab single “Sirens of the sea”. Yes, it is quite neat, good singing as always from Justine Suissa, but if you compare it to older Oceanlab tracks like “Clear blue water” or “Sky falls down” it is rather unspectacular and even a little bit boring.

Speaking of vocal trance tracks: A while ago I listened to the recently digitally released who-knows-how-many remixes of Matt Darey’s “eternity” – it seems to me that not a single one of these remixes is without that bothering opera singing. If it was just instrumental it could be quite an interesting track. I am really not a fan of using classical elements in trance.
